A friend recommended Paula to me and I just felt that now was the right time to address my phobia given my children are now in school and I now have more time on my side. I had very little understanding of what hypnotherapy entailed, but during my consultation with Paula she was able to answer any questions I had in a calm, empathetic and reassuring way. Sessions took place over zoom allowing me to relax in my home surroundings and really focus on the moment and unwind. Paula was accommodating, punctual, and knowledgeable and always fully prepared for the session. Before I consulted Paula about my spider phobia I was constantly looking out for spiders in case they came up on me suddenly. I was also terrified that I would find one when my husband was away as I couldn’t be near them or remove them. If one was in the bedroom I wouldn’t want to sleep in there, and if I encountered one I would hyperventilate to the point that my Mum once thought I was having a heart attack. When I approached Paula for help she explained everything to me in easy to understand terms. She talked me through my concerns and asked me what I would like to achieve. I thought I would feel really stressed but it was very calming and relaxing. I am really delighted with the end results. I have achieved my wish to be able to put a container/lid over a spider - something I would never be able to do before. I don’t need to run from a spider, I can happily potter in the garden without fear of spiders and I have almost picked up a fairly small spider and flicked one off my bed. My doctor had diagnosed anxiety and depression and I was at the point of considering prescription medication when I was passed Paula’s details. I’d never heard of this therapy before but was very interested, so I contacted Paula and we arranged a consultation at which she explained how the therapy works. I felt at ease and comfortable with Paula who is both friendly and professional. I looked forward to the sessions each week. I first contacted Paula following a recommendation from a friend. I'd been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety and had received counselling for this. However, I felt further help was required to help me progress with the anxiety. I had issues with over-analysing and sleep problems. From the initial meeting, Paula made me feel comfortable and had a way of making me feel relaxed in her presence. We originally started before Covid-19, with face to face sessions, and these were amazing. She has a very soothing voice and helped me enormously. When social distancing meant we could no longer meet in person, Zoom came to the rescue and I had different anxiety issues to contend with regarding Covid-19.
